Welcome to the City of Newport, Vermont
Newport was chartered in 1793 and became a City on March 5, 1918. The small Northeast Kingdom City is located on the southern shore of beautiful Lake Memphremagog, a 27 mile international lake which straddles the U.S. and Canadian border.
Newport has a total area of 7.6 square miles with 1.6 square miles being water. The Clyde, Barton and Black rivers empty into the lake here and represent a major portion of the watershed.
