** The Newport City Recycling Center is not a transfer station and therefore
DOES NOT TAKE FOOD SCRAPS. **
The Landfill located on the Airport Road in Coventry has a composter on-site at the drop-off area and charges $5 per 5-gallon pail! Pails can be purchased there or at your local hardware store, if you so choose to bring it there.

The Recycling Center is open Wednesday and Saturday’s, 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Please adhere to the following Work Smart/Stay Safe Executive Order:
For the Safety of our Recycling Center Employees and Customers during the COVID-19 state of emergency, we are taking the following precautions, as recommended from the Vt. DEC:
Stay in your car! If you must get out of your car, wear a mask and stay 6 feet apart from every person. Allow our employees to remove the recycling from your trunk or back of the car. Do not loiter, do not linger, and avoiding chatting. Our intention is to limit our staff’s exposure to the public. — Thank you for understanding.
