Recreation Committee Meets each first Wednesday of the Month at 5:30pm at
the Gateway Center.

REGISTRATION
Registrations
for all programs are encouraged through the mail or online. Walk in
registrations are accepted at the Newport Rec. Dept Office. No phone
registrations please. All programs are available to residents of Newport as well
as residents of surrounding communities. Some programs have a non-resident fee
which may be slightly higher.
MISSION
STATEMENT
It is the
purpose of the Newport Dept. of Parks & Recreation to provide the citizens of
Newport with a broad selection of recreational opportunities and leisure time
activities. The dept. strives to enhance the quality of life in local
communities and To develop and maintain future programs and facilities as
needed. Recreation is fun for all ages.

Located
on the bottom floor of the Newport Municipal Building the Center is a place
to meet new friends, socialize and exercise. Brenda Landry, Director of the
Senior Center, puts on an excellent meal every Wednesday at noon for seniors
50+ and the cost is only $3.00 per person. The Strong Living Exercise
Program is held on Tuesdays & Fridays from 9:30-10:30am and is free of
charge.
